EVKL Kükita Old Believers’ Prayer House

The first prayer house founded by Old Believers is located in Kükita, Jõgeva County, and was consecrated on September 14, 1740. In the 1830s, Old Believers in this area also faced severe persecution, and the prayer house was closed, later demolished, and its assets were transferred to the Mustvee Edinoverie Church. By 1833, the Kükita congregation had 397 Old Believers on its register. In the 1860s, it became possible to build a new prayer house again with the help of donors. Unfortunately, it was destroyed during World War II, but the current prayer house was built in 1948 on the site of the former one.
