The objective of Tartu Film Fund is to promote the development of the audio-visual sector in Tartu City and South Estonia, and to reach this goal, Tartu Film Fund supports the creation of professional audiovisual works in the region based on a cash rebate system, which means refunding up to 30% of the costs made in South Estonia.

Documentaries
Animation films
Short feature films
Quality television series

Any legal person who is registered in Estonia and whose principal activity is producing cinema films, videos and television series can apply for the funding. A production company registered in Estonia must be included as a co-producer and an applier in the case of a foreign producer.

Eligible is buying supplies and services:

  • from a company that is registered and actively operating in the Film Fund region
  • from a private person whose place of residence is in the region according to the population register

The applicant must have previous professional experience in producing audiovisual works as an Executive Producer, or they must have signed a co-producer contract with a company that has experience as an Executive Producer by the time of submitting the application for the funding.
At the time of submitting the application, at least 50% of funding for the work must be guaranteed.

Applications can be submitted up to twice a year – in Spring and Autumn. Information on the call for applications will be published on the Film Fund homepage at least 30 calendar days before the application deadline. Application with annexes written in Estonian is to be sent to the following email address: fund@tartufilmfund.ee. The funding decision is made within 40 days starting from the application deadline. The Beneficiary must present activity and cost reports to receive the funding. Reimbursement of costs will be made within 30 days after the cost report has been confirmed.
