Mattiesen Printing House

Among the architectural monuments in central Tartu, the former Mattiesen printing house at the corner of Ülikooli and Vallikraavi streets is worth mentioning. Printer Carl Gottlieb Mattiesen acquired the property in 1848, and the wooden building was adapted to house the University of Tartu’s printing press. Later, a stone extension was added to the building. Today, the restaurant Vilde ja Vine operates in the house.

Tartu
