Valga Railway Station

The first train ran from Tartu to Valga in 1887, and in 1889 a historicist-style station building made of red bricks, called Walk, was opened here. The railway junction gave a significant boost to the town’s development, and at its peak, at least 1,500 people were employed in Valga in railway-related enterprises.
